I have converted many PS2 games to pkg files to install on PS3, and I think it’s better this way as I don’t want to do what I wrote in my other anymore, though you still need to follow the set-up process for PS2 games from there (you can consider this is is Part 2 for PS2 games). But be noted, that not all games (very small number, for example Crash Twinsanity) can be played, and I don’t seek to know why. This may seem to be difficult but it’s actually quite simple. You need PS3tools, go to to download the package and install it.
I assume you already download your PS2 games, and in my case, the games are always in ISO. Locate PS2ClassicsGUI.exe file and PS2U10000 folder inside the directory where you installed PS3tools (folder ‘tools’). In short, that folder is a working folder of that file, so I would recommend you to have desktop shortcuts for both. To make PS2 games pkg, it has 2 steps, they are decompressing ISO.BIN.ENC from PS2 ISO and packaging ISO.BIN.ENC into a pgk file. DO NOT leave any empty space in ISO’s file name. Now, run PS2ClassicsGUI.exe, by default, you are at Encrypt tab.

Select your PS2 ISO game as Encrypted Image; if it pops up to ask you to Add LIMG Sector, just choose Yes. Then click Decrypt, and it will take a while depending on the file size. FYI, CEX is PS3 version for consumers and DEX is for developers, change if you know what it is. While waiting to get ISO.BIN.ENC file, you can do this, and this step is for those who would like to personalize their stuff like me. It means you can personalize your PS2 games’ backgrounds and icon images in XMB by changing the pictures in PS2U10000 folder.
Go to that folder, you’ll see 3 image files, and you only need ICON0.PNG (res 372×176) and PIC1.PNG (res 1920×1080), the other one (res 1000×560) is up to you. Next, find the images which you like, re-scale them to right resolutions of the default files and convert them to PNG.
Then, replace the default files in PS2U10000 folder with your files. Once you have ISO.BIN.ENC (file name is ‘ISO.BIN’ and file type is ‘ENC’, don’t mess up) ready, go to tab Make PKG and you’ll see your modified images there (feel good, don’t you? ^^) Now, click Make PKG and choose ISO.BIN.ENC file to start packaging.
Note: Do not touch the original ISO file, until the PKG is successfully produced. Install your pkg on your PS3 and you’ll find it under PS2 Classics Holder.

If the file is bigger than 4Gb, just split it or FTP transfer or whatever you see fit. This is my favorite application PS3splitter, That’s it, it’s not too hard, is it? This is my own.
