I encountered a similar instance when I upgraded to Win7. Is that the OS you are on? This solution finally worked from the Oracle support site: Essbase Excel Add-in v11.1.2.2 Connection Dialog Box Does Not Appear (Doc ID 1538600.1) As noted in this forum link found in the document, Win7 does not include the file msvcr71.dll in its core installation. Users that have Oracle client installations or other installs that have the file in their path, and that path is in the%PATH% variable, do not encounter the error. For users that do not have an Oracle client installed however the file can still be on your computer. Search for the file on you computer and copy the file from it's location to c: windows system32.
