Game Charlie The Duck Rating: 7,4/10 8162 reviews

24 September, 2017 After giving out some keys on keymailer, I saw that several people on youtube have made a review or done some kind of playthrough. As a developer, it's interesting to watch people play your game for the first time. Anyway, I noticed that most people never found out that Charlie can actually dive into the water and they miss about half of the game that way. So I added a little message at one place in the first level saying that Charlie can dive into the water.

Charlie The Duck is an online Arcade game for kids. It uses the Flash technology. Play this Jumping game now or enjoy the many other related games we have at POG. With no music, primitive sounds, and low-res (though colorful) graphics, the 10-year-old Charlie the Duck comes off as an inferior copycat of Super Mario Bros.

Also some people were experiencing problems with controllers where Charlie was moving or kept moving. I now made the analog controllers less sensitive, so hopefully that fixes it. About This Game Charlie the Duck is an old school 2D side-scrolling platform game. Run through levels, collect coins, diamonds and other power ups. Jump on top of enemies to defeat them. Dive into the water to find hidden areas! This is a complete remake of the PC version originally released in 1996 for MS-DOS.

The game is nearly identical, but some small changes have been made. This version does not use separate buttons to walk slower or faster, some levels were modified a bit to make everything work well with the constant walking speed. Also, there have been some small changes to make the game a little easier and less frustrating. And now there is also background music! Left and Right: walk Up / Space: jump Down: in some places Charlie can dive into the water.

With no music, primitive sounds, and low-res (though colorful) graphics, the 10-year-old Charlie the Duck comes off as an inferior copycat of Super Mario Bros. As the aforementioned duck, you run around the sideways-scrolling landscape, collecting gems and avoiding hostile creatures-or jumping on their heads. The gameplay is passable, but the outdated graphics look like they were designed for an eight-bit console. The audio is even more disappointing. There's no music at all, and the sound effects are primitive, to put it charitably. For instance, when a bee stings your duck, you hear a WinXP-like chord. To be fair, Charlie the Duck is generally playable, but you can find much better demos, including the same publisher's sequel to this game, Charlie II.
